The Mandrillus Project was born in 2012 to study the unique habituated population of wild mandrills |
The project studies the socioecology of the only habituated group of wild mandrills (Mandrillus sphinx) worldwide. The study population is currently (in 2020) composed of ca. 250 individuals that roam in a mosaic of savannas and equatorial rain forests located in the vicinity of the village of Bakoumba in southern Gabon (Lékédi Park). |
